A year of growth, innovation and progress at Surgical Holdings

As the year draws to a close, we’re taking a moment to reflect on an action-packed and fulfilling 2024. From new faces joining the team to exciting milestones and collaborations, this year has reminded us why we’re so passionate about what we do. Before we dive into the opportunities of 2025, we wanted to take a moment to reflect on some of the highlights that made 2024 so special.

Our Manufacturing and Service Turned Green
This year, we made a major step forward in our sustainability journey by introducing solar panels across our manufacturing site. This initiative has already delivered impressive results, with substantial CO2 savings that highlight our commitment to reducing our environmental impact. We’re proud of this milestone and look forward to continuing to innovate in sustainable manufacturing practices. This year since April we’ve saved 35.77 MWh – based on 3000 KWh equivalent to powering 12 four-bedroom homes per annum.

Elevating education with the Surgical Holdings Academy

The year began with the launch of the Surgical Holdings Academy, a platform designed to provide healthcare professionals with vital insights into surgical instruments and their role in delivering exceptional care. November marked a key milestone for the Academy, as we hosted our first in-person live event in Glasgow, Scotland. Over 60 clinicians joined us for a day of learning, sharing and championing the benefits of repairing surgical instruments – a practical approach that aligns with our focus on efficiency and care in healthcare.

Contributing to the future of healthcare
This year, we were honoured to be named a collaborative partner in the UK Government’s Design for Life Roadmap. This initiative aims to reshape the healthcare sector through smarter innovation and long-term resilience. Being part of this strategy is an exciting opportunity to bring our expertise to a collective effort focused on creating solutions that stand the test of time.

Strengthening our global reach
In November, we returned to the MEDICA trade fair, marking our third consecutive appearance at this leading event. Alongside showcasing our service offering in Endoscope and Power Tool Repair, we launched the International Surgical Instruments Catalogue, designed to help partners and distributors navigate EU MDR compliance while expanding their markets. Strengthening connections and supporting healthcare excellence across Europe remains a key priority for us.

Learning and collaboration in Germany

Our visit to Tontarra, a family-run company in South Germany, was another highlight of the year. Known for their expertise in precision engineering, they exemplify a thoughtful approach to production that resonates with our own values. Collaborating with them continues to be a valuable and inspiring experience.

Expanding with a new consumables division
In March, we launched a dedicated consumables division in partnership with Telic and VEC Medical, leading Barcelona-based manufacturers. By expanding our portfolio to include single-patient-use products, supported by a new sales team and enhanced distribution facilities with our new warehouse, we’re helping to bolster supply chain resilience. Local sourcing and production remain a focus, ensuring more efficient delivery and robust service for healthcare providers.

Looking Ahead
2024 has undoubtedly been a year of learning, growth and meaningful progress. But what stands out most are the people – the colleagues, partners and clinicians – who’ve been part of this journey with us. As we look to the year ahead, we’re excited to continue building on these connections and working together to meet the challenges and opportunities of tomorrow.

Thank you for being part of our story this year. From all of us at Surgical Holdings, we wish you a happy and healthy 2025! We look forward to the next chapter together.
