Celebrating Excellence in HealthTech at ABHI Parliamentary Reception 2023
Surgical Holdings, a British manufacturer and repairer of surgical instruments with a focus on sustainability, was honoured to attend the annual ABHI Parliamentary Reception at the House of Commons on Monday, 3rd July, to celebrate the vital role that HealthTech plays in improving lives and supporting the NHS.
As proud nominees for the ABHI’s prestigious “Recognising Excellence” campaign, the evening provided a perfect opportunity to celebrate innovation and collaboration between the NHS, industry leaders, and communities across the nation, as the NHS celebrates its monumental 75th Birthday.
The event, hosted by Steve McCabe MP, brought together an esteemed gathering of professionals representing healthcare, government and parliament. This year’s reception also offered a perfect platform to acknowledge the individuals and organisations who have been nominated for the ABHI’s ongoing “Innovation in HealthTech: Recognising Excellence” campaign.
Earlier this year, Surgical Holdings was delighted to share the news of our nomination for this remarkable campaign, which serves as a means to acknowledge and celebrate excellence in HealthTech innovation across the country. It provides individuals and organisations with the opportunity to be recognised for their efforts in driving improvements through innovative partnerships, ultimately leading to better outcomes for patients and the NHS.
Our nomination for ABHI’s “Innovation in HealthTech: Recognising Excellence” campaign is a testament to our commitment to delivering an integrated circular economy solution. At Surgical Holdings, we are dedicated to assisting NHS hospitals in reducing their carbon footprint by actively promoting the repair and refurbishment of surgical instruments and other medical devices. This aligns with our circular economy approach, which aims to tackle global steel wastage and contribute to a more sustainable future.
To facilitate seamless repairs, NHS and private hospital staff have access to our repairs portal, ‘Surgifix.’ This platform allows them to enter repair requests and track the whole process from start to finish. Furthermore, we offer a CPD-accredited educational platform to enhance staff education on proper equipment handling and potential misuse, ensuring patient safety remains at the forefront of our efforts.
It was truly a pleasure to have the opportunity to engage with industry leaders and gain insights into the latest challenges faced by the HealthTech industry at last night’s conference. The discussions emphasised the importance of collaboration in driving improvements and enhancing outcomes for patients. We were also delighted to meet with Sir James Duddridge KCMG, MP for Rochford & Southend East and Minister of State (Minister for Health and Secondary Care), Will Quince MP.
Dan Coole, Managing Director at Surgical Holdings, said: “This year’s event was an excellent opportunity to network with representatives from the NHS, industry and parliament and gain insights into the latest trends and challenges within the HealthTech industry. We are immensely proud to be nominated for the ABHI Recognising Excellence campaign and extend our heartfelt thanks to the entire team for organising such an exceptional event.”
At Surgical Holdings, we remain committed to advancing healthcare through innovation, collaboration and sustainability. We recognise the profound impact that HealthTech has on transforming lives and are honoured to be part of a collective effort to shape a brighter future for the industry and for patients.
