Needle Holders
Needle Holders at Surgical Holdings to hold suture needles. Widely used to hold and push a suturing needle when performing wound closure, ligation and other surgical procedures that require re-anastomosis. While closing a wound, needle holders hold a suture needle with either serrated or non-serrated jaws. Needle holders have a clamp mechanism that locks the needle in place. This allows the user to manoeuvre the needle through various tissues. In order to maintain a firm grip on the needle, the jaws are textured and short compared to the handles. Most needle holders are designed to be gripped with the fingers and palm like scissors. However, some are designed for a tweezers-like grip to allow finer, more precise movements around delicate structures or narrow spaces.
- Coarse 0.65mm - For powerful needle holder patterns and wire twisters. Maximum holding capabilities for heavy needles or wire.
- Standard 0.5mm - Used, for example, in Mayo-Hegar, Mathieu Needle Holders. For needles 3-0 and larger.
- Fine 0.4mm - For delicate needle holders such as Crile-Wood and DeBakey. For needles and sutures between 4-0 and 6-0.
- Micro 0.2-0.3mm - For micro needle holders such as Castroviejo, Microvascular and Mini-Ryder. For delicate needles and sutures between 7-0 and 10-0.
- Smooth - Smooth tungsten carbide surface reduces damage to delicate needles and suture of 6-0 and finer.
